    Manager, Sector Engagement & Strategy – National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health

    • Employment Type: Part-time (28 hour week/0.8 FTE)
    • Duration: 2 year fixed term contract
    • Remuneration: $118,883 - $133,948 Full time equivalent + 17% Super and leave loading
    • Location: Kensington, NSW (Hybrid Flexible Working)

    About the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health:

    The National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health (the Centre) is a new major initiative supported by the Australian Government, Department of Health and Aged Care, commencing in 2023. The Centre is led by UNSW Sydney (Medicine and Health) together with a consortium comprising The New South Wales Council for Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome Australia, Queenslanders with Disability Network, First Peoples Disability Network (Australia), Centre for Disability Studies, Mater Intellectual Disability and Autism Service and Mater Misericordiae, University of Melbourne, and Telethon Kids Institute. A further 20 health and disability sector partners and 36 collaborating organisations are also involved. The Centre's purpose is to improve the health of people with intellectual disability. The National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health will be based at UNSW Medicine and Health, UNSW Sydney.

    Establishing the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health is a vital step in improving the health of people with intellectual disability. The Centre will bring together experts, resources, and research on intellectual disability healthcare.

    Why Your Role Matters:

    As the Manager, Sector Engagement & Strategy, you will be responsible for leading key strategic activities within the Centre to support its establishment and ongoing operations. This role includes building strong meaningful relationships with partner and collaborator organisations nationally and supporting the development, implementation, and regular review of the Centre's strategy and operations to inform future directions. You will play an important role in nurturing a positive and inclusive culture of collaboration across a nationally dispersed Centre and will work closely with key staff across the Centre.

    This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and may have oversight of casual staff and contractors. You will also have a partnering role with Consortium members, and other national stakeholders.

    Who You Are:

    • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
    • Experience in working with individuals with disabilities, and a strong commitment to focusing on promoting inclusion, the rights of these individuals and ensuring accessibility.
    • Commitment to First Nations peoples being self-determining; respect and support for the cultural values and practices of First Nations peoples; and a demonstrated capacity to work in an intercultural way at an individual and organisational level.
    • Proven project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives, and documentation.
    • Experience in strategic planning including analysis of data to develop and share insights, and development of recommendations.
    • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
    • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels internally and externally.
    • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
    • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
    • A valid Working with Children Check
