The NSW Government Brand and Campaigns team works across the whole of NSW Government and is responsible for the strategic direction of customer centric government communications including advertising campaigns, NSW Government brand and building communications capability.


The Sector Capability unit is a strategic function of the Brand and Campaigns team that promotes and supports the professional development and 'connectedness' of all government communicators across NSW Government.

The capability program consists of a variety of projects including engagement and data analysis, benchmarking, training & mentoring, communities of practice, executive networks, policy advice and a monthly newsletter.

The team will also be launching an all-of-government communications awards program to be launched in 2023.


As Sector Capability Advisor you will support the continuous improvement of the professional development program by managing events, forums and awards ceremony for communications and engagement practitioners working in NSW Government.

This is a 'hands-on' role with autonomy on projects such as content creation, delivering events and training sessions, working with delivery partners, and engaging with our community of communications professionals to ensure they are connected and motivated to be part of the development program.


Key responsibilities:


  • Endtoend coordination and delivery of events for the capability program, including online webinars and training sessions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure events are targeted and aligned to capability program learning objectives
  • Support the strategic direction of the capability program by analysing event engagement data and identifying emerging trends to assist with the prioritisation of event activities.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the outcomes of events to identify effectiveness and opportunities for improvement.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications/marketing or relevant professional experience in an event management, project, marketing or engagement role.
  • Proven record of achievement in delivering online and face to face events including postevent reporting and analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information simply and in an engaging fashion.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with strong influencing skills to get results.
  • Flexible and adaptable and can deliver quality and meaningful work in a fastpaced environment.

Salary Grade 7/8, with the base salary for this role starting at $101947 base plus superannuation.
