The Organisation
The Aboriginal Community Housing Industry Association (ACHIA) NSW is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Housing Providers in NSW.

ACHIA NSW was established in 2020 to be a strong, effective and independent voice for the Aboriginal community housing sector.


Through top-down advocacy, ACHIA NSW promotes the interests of Aboriginal Community Housing Providers (ACHPs) and influences policy, strategy and outcomes for Aboriginal housing.

Propelling voices from the ground up, ACHIA NSW provides a voice to government that is knowledgeable, experienced and directly connected to Aboriginal communities in NSW and their housing services.


This is a rare opportunity to join an industry peak body, making a significant impact on the ACHP sector and in the lives of tenants accessing their services.


The Role
As the Service Development Manager, you will assist in sector capacity building through delivery of The Coolamon Project. The Coolamon Project provides support for ACHPs across governance, strategy, and operations. You will lead targeted activities for capability uplift and workforce development throughout the sector.


You will have experience working at a managerial level within a similar organisation, with a track record of positive engagement working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.


This role is based remotely however you must be located in NSW to be successful as occasional travel across NSW is required.


Key Responsibilities
This position is a one year fixed term position with responsibilities including but not limited to the below:

  • Lead, manage and bring complex projects to completion;
  • Coordinate sector engagement and capability building;
  • Identify sector gaps and priorities through consultation, analysis and sector mapping;
  • Develop and commission tools, resources and services to enhance sector capability;
  • Support service and workforce capability building through the delivery of targeted training;
  • Contribute to the promotion and rollout of ACHIA developed products and services across NSW ACHPs;
  • Provide reports on operational activities to meet internal and external requirements.

You will also bring with you:
  • Confirmation of Aboriginality
  • Tertiary qualifications from a relevant field
  • Experience, knowledge and a track record of positive engagement working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities including knowledge of cultural protocols
  • Excellent communication and relationshipbuilding skills
  • Understanding of Aboriginal Community Housing including logístical, ethical and human rights issues affecting Aboriginal people
  • Proficiency in computer operation including Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.
  • Sound project management skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel both locally and regionally (including overnight travel)


Being fully Covid 19 vaccinated, holding a current driver's licence, Working with Children's Check NSW and completing a criminal history check are required in this role.
