Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)Main purpose of job:
Lead, create and deliver strategic, high-quality communications and public relations activity that advance the British Government's trade, investment and prosperity efforts in Australia and New Zealand.
You will focus on developing and delivering communication camopaigns to support trade and investment objectives across Australia and New Zealand.
You will design and implement free and low cost campaigns which reach key audiences, delivering actionable leads and ensuring full evaluation and measurement.
You will also have overarching responsibility for the UK's GREAT brand, working within project teams to deliver high impact creative moments that encourage target audiences to "See things differently".
You will need to be adept at spotting creative opportunities to maximise overall communications objectives for the UK in Australia team.
This is an exciting time for the UK-Australia relationship.We will be launching a new campaign at Mardi Gras, tech and innovation installations at the Melbourne Grand Prix as well as building trilateral defence links through AUKUS.
Alongside this you will play a leading role in developing media campaigns for the Australia and New Zealand Free Trade Agreements.
We want to continue to build the UK's reputation as a first class destination for inward investment, an innovation hub and Science Superpower.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Create earned and owned campaign plans to boost international trade and prosperity and for priority sectors across the network
- Generate ideas for PR and media opportunities, identify opportunities, organise media interviews, write briefings
- Ensure earned opportunities linked to marketing spend (e.g at events) are maximised to ensure VfM. Delivery PR and media support for trade and investment campaigns and events
- Create a wide variety of written material including media releases, articles, blogs, case studies and promotional material including collateral and event invitations
- Develop and implement (with the team) social media strategies which deliver your campaign objectives and deliver increased reach, engagement and conversion of our audiences (Twitter, LinkedIN, FB). Create, maintain and grow new and existing social networks
- Develop forward look for campaigns that support tactical opportunities, sector campaigns and wider strategic communications (for example the UK as a place to do business, highly innovative and a science superpower)
- Stay up to date with brand guidelines and the latest assets to provide advice across the network and ensure own materials properly align
- Maintain and develop strategic editorial calendar with suitable story ideas to support tactical opportunities and sector campaigns
- Create and keep uptodate segmented media contact lists on central database across trade, broadcast print and podcasts
- Build strong relationships with trade and business media contacts and a comprehensive understanding of business and trade media landscape relevant to sectors we work in, particularly priority sectors
- Identify opportunities for Consul Generals to speak to media, work with team to set up regular background briefings, coffees and networking events with key media
- Write and compile the monthly International Trade newsletter, using EDM software for external distribution. Evaluate success and seek iterative improvements
- Monitor media, distribute media monitoring updates, monthly comms reporting and campaign evaluation
- Evaluate analytics with team on a monthly basis, share learnings and best practice around network and to hubs in Singapore and London
- Evaluate campaign and sector activity using analytic evaluation tools and use insights to inform future activity and build social media engagement
- Provide ongoing support to the wider team on using their own social media channels to engage audiences in their activities and campaign work; this may include work shops or oneonone training sessions
- Support internal communications by highlighting best practice, sharing good examples and promoting success across network and internationally
