Do you have a passion for clear, engaging communication and a knack for crafting compelling digital content?


We are looking for a talented Digital Communications Officer to join our client, a local council in Western Sydney, in a rewarding contract role (initial 2 months with a high chance of extension).


About the Role
In this exciting role, you'll play a pivotal role in developing and implementing their digital communications strategy. You'll be responsible for creating engaging content across various digital platforms, ensuring clear and consistent communication with the community.


Here's what you'll be doing:

Crafting compelling website content: You'll leverage your website content management skills (including HTML coding) to create and update informative and user-friendly website content.

Becoming a digital content maestro: You'll develop engaging digital content that resonates with the target audience. This includes optimising content for search engines (SEO) to maximise reach.

Social media whiz: You'll manage and curate content across different social media platforms, keeping the online community informed and engaged.

A multi-skilled communicator: You'll bring your expertise to bear in at least three of the following areas: video editing, staff intranet content, crafting electronic newsletters (format and content), and writing, editing, and producing high-quality publications.

Data-driven approach: You'll be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of digital communication activities.

Strategic thinker: You'll contribute to the development and delivery of communications and marketing strategies.


What you'll bring to the table:

  • A BA Communications degree or similar qualification (journalism, public relations) or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with website content management systems (CMS) and HTML coding.
  • A proven track record of creating engaging digital content with a strong understanding of SEO principles.
  • Experience working with various social media platforms.
  • Expertise in at least three of the following areas: video editing, staff intranet content, electronic newsletters (format and content), and writing, editing, and producing highquality publications.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluating digital communication activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience working in local government is preferred
  • A current NSW driver's license.
