The Role
As a seasoned strategist and financial leader, the CFO will have a strong understanding of current accounting practices and trends, and the ability to adapt, anticipate and respond to change.
The role will be pivotal in shaping financial strategies and performance, managing and advising the CEO around investment performance, enhancing financial acumen organisation-wide, and providing essential insights for informed decision making.
The CFO will lead the adoption of best practices for fiscal management, project coordination and interdepartmental communications.As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will have a significant impact across the organisation, supporting departments in understanding the current financial landscape and organisational objectives, and acting as a conduit between financial advisors, the leadership team and staff.
Key ResponsibilitiesInvestment and Revenue Management:
Develop an enterprise-level view of the organisation's financial direction and performance, to ensure ongoing financial sustainability and to maximise the investment in order to continue high-quality service delivery
Policy and Procedure:
Ensure the timeliness, accuracy, and integrity of Grain Growers' financial accounting systems, accounting policies and processes while developing systems to safeguard assets and minimise risk
Reporting:
Prepare annual statutory accounts in a timely manner to meet AGM requirements and oversee the organisation's banking activities, company insurance requirements and overall financial performance
People Leadership:
Build and nurture an effective, skilled, and engaged team by establishing role clarity and ensuring that performance expectations and development goals are discussed and agreed
Cross-team Collaboration:Work with managers and team members across the organisation to develop their financial literacy and support them to balance high quality service delivery with optimising the financial performance of their services
Stakeholder Engagement:
Establish and foster ongoing key relationships with financial stakeholders; including auditors, insurers, investment fund managers, and government departments as required.

Knowledge and competencies
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required, with CPA/CA or similar professional accreditation
NFP/For Purpose experience with ACNC reporting highly regarded
Proven senior-level finance experience with a focus on strategy development, leading business systems and enhancing performance through technology
Robust analytical abilities, well-developed strategic thinking and conceptual skills
Exceptional communication skills, adept at simplifying and articulating complex financial information
Excellent time management and organisational abilities, capable of handling multiple complex tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality output
Strong knowledge or experience with Australian agriculture highly desirable.
