The Australian National Maritime Museum (the Museum) is seeking an outstanding CFO/Assistant Director, Corporate Services and Strategy to lead its Corporate Branch.

The role is part of the Museum's Executive team and reports directly to the Director and CEO.


The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the Museum's Finance, ICT and Governance functions, improving operational performance across the organisation, and driving digital connectivity.

The CFO/Assistant Director, Corporate Services and Strategy will also contribute as a core member of the executive team, to the broader agenda and strategic priorities under the Museums' Strategic Vision and Corporate Plan.


To be a strong contender for this important and challenging role you will ideally have a diverse background with experience in both the public and private sector.

You will be ICAA or CPA qualified and have strong financial acumen with a commercial focus. You will be forward thinking, self-motivated, resilient, and adept at building relationships.


You will be committed to excellence and innovation and have a strong record of achievement in leading people and managing resources in a tight fiscal environment to achieve high quality outcomes.

Your strong leadership credentials and ability to engender trust and respect will be complemented by astute judgement, a focus on results, and the ability to solve complex issues and build organisational capability.


High level Overview of Key Criteria:

  • ICAA or CPA qualified and tertiary qualification
  • Extensive experience working as part of a senior leadership team with proven strategic leadership capability including excellent interpersonal and people management skills and advanced collaboration, negotiation, stakeholder engagement and communication capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent an organisation with authority and credibility, including strong communication skills and an ability to engage and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
