About the role


We are seeking a School Financial Support Officer to be responsible for providing online/phone financial support services to SCS staff, to enable the efficient operation of the team in response to newly implemented financial management systems.


The role exists to support schools in maintaining efficient and reliable accounting and administrative records that meet their internal and external reporting requirements in the provision of online/phone support, guidance, analytics and training.

The School Financial Support Officer is required to perform tasks that include but are not limited to:

  • financial analysis, financial accounting processing, account reconciliation, journals and support financial controller, through report generation and budget creations
- assisting schools with fees and charges, preparing annual fee generation, including updating existing bill items and adding new bill items in school computer systems
- researching problems and providing solutions to bring matters to a close
- assisting schools in preparing reports, operating the financial systems
- reviewing support resources and providing operational updates as required
- assisting in the preparation and delivery of training and procedures documentation
- assisting with managing attendances, data extractions, checking students and teacher dashboards
- supporting the refund process within school finance and administration systems
- updating Schools Master List(s) for Census.


About you
To be successful in this position, you must possess:

  • experience in a Finance administration/customer service related support role
- previous involvement in change programs, with an ability to support rapid change and hold a steady course in an ever changing environment
- strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders across organisational boundaries
- ability to operate in a flexible, agile and innovative work environment
- intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Apps
- accounting System exposure (Technology One, SAP, etc.)
- detailed knowledge of finance and administration functions and processes.
- formal Qualifications in Business Administration/Accounting (preferred)
- experience in a high volume Service desk environment
- experience in school environments performing Finance and Administrative functions
- knowledge of school attendance and reporting requirements
- experience with data exporting and mail merge
- current driver's licence.

Working With Children Check (WWCC)
This role is classified as child-related work and therefore requires a WWCC clearance prior to commencement of employment.
It involves a national criminal history check and a review of findings of workplace misconduct.

Also, as a 12-month position, you need to be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident, or have valid work rights for the duration of the role.
