    Broadsheet Media is looking for a Commercial Director to join our team in either Melbourne or Sydney.

    You will report to Broadsheet's General Manager and beresponsible for driving commercial growth by shaping the commercial strategy and operations and by leading our sales, studio, reader revenue and marketing teams.

    In this role, you will make an impact as part of one of Australia's most influential independent media publishers and lifestyle brands.


    THE ROLE

    The Commercial Director is responsible for Broadsheet exceeding its revenue targets by leading initiatives to identify and secure new business opportunities, expanding our current client base and building new revenue streams.

    The role sits in the executive leadership team and will contribute to decision making in all aspects of the business.

    The role will be pivotal in delivering on Broadsheet's multi-year strategic plan.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy that aligns with the company's growth objectives.

    Provide effective leadership to the sales focused team members (sales, reader revenue, marketing), setting ambitious targets, and implementing performance metrics to achieve company growth.

    Ensure profitability of commercial campaigns against budget.
    Oversee e Commerce marketing plans and budget performance.
    Oversee the growth of reader revenue streams, including membership and affiliate programs.
    Provide oversight and strategic direction to the marketing department, aligning marketing efforts with overall business goals.
    Forge strong relationships with key clients, industry partners, and stakeholders to expand market presence and drive business development opportunities.
    Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and media engagements to enhance brand visibility and thought leadership.
    Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to inform strategic decision-making.
    Analyse market trends, audience insights, and competitive dynamics to inform strategic decisions and product innovation.
    Oversee the customer journey to ensure exceptional service and support, enhancing customer satisfaction and retention.
    Drive Trade Marketing strategy to ensure constant presence of Broadsheet in the trade media
    Champion Broadsheet in the industry and secure trading deals with media agencies and key clients
    Drive external initiatives such as Broadsheet upfronts and Senior client engagement.

    ABOUT YOU

    You'll join with a thorough understanding of the media industry and content landscape and have the natural ability to develop relationships with media agencies and clients.

    You will be both creatively and commercially minded and able to work across Broadsheet's award-winning studio team to create integrated solutions for our partners that span across articles, video, podcast, events and digital media.


    You will need:
    Minimum of 10 years experience in a senior commercial role within the media industry.
    A proven track record of driving growth and profitability.
    Strong senior relationships in the marketing and agency industries.
    Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing team.
    Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a flair for building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
    Deep understanding of the media landscape, including market trends, client needs and third party platforms
    Strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to decision-making and problem-solving.
    Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments to achieve common goals.
    Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving industry.
