The Role
The Business Manager is a key position within CASG Commercial and Financial Analysis (CFA) branch. The role is responsible for providing administrative business support to the Executive Director CFA and the wider Executive Team.

You will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex work within an integrated and multi-functional Directorate. You will be accountable for organising your workflow and making independent decisions relating to your area of responsibility.

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Management of the Commercial and Financial Analysis Group Inbox.
  • Task allocation and coordination.
  • Assisting with Recruitment Administration.
  • Assisting with travel approvals and CMS acquittals.
  • Simple procurement support, Raising Purchases Orders and payment of invoices.
  • Operating Budget Management and end of month forecasting, and stationary requests.


You will gain a strong knowledge of Commercial Division and the broader Defence and will be responsible for the development and implementation of internal processes to achieve business outcomes, with good service delivery at the forefront of decision making.

You will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond to and manage expectations. You will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.


About our Team

The Commercial Analysis and Financial Analysis team provides commercial and financial analysis with a focus on pricing and costing, remuneration models and financial assurance in order to support procurement and contracting activities across the Defence organisation, and overall stages of the procurement and contracting life-cycle.

The position will provide you with exposure to a diverse internal client base within cross-functional teams and provide significant opportunity to interact with industry across various industry sectors, including Defence Industry.

Within the Business Management function, the Business Manager is accountable to the Executive Director CFA.

To be successful in the role, you will possess the following capabilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate, manage and report on activities.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills to logically convey thoughts and ideas.
  • Keen sense of attention for detail encompassing a methodological approach.
  • Demonstrated capability to achieve effective outcomes with little guidance.
  • Experience in business support environments (models, tools, financial packages) such as Procurement, ROMAN, MiFi, Section 23 approvals, Objective.
  • Ability to work in a fluid environment, remaining flexible, agile and adaptable supporting colleagues at short notice.
  • Manage and respond to tasking in the time frames assigned.
