    Overview:


    The Program Delivery Division is the gateway for veterans and their families to access services that will maintain and enhance their quality of life by improving their physical and mental wellbeing. The Client Programs Branch leads and manages a range of health and community programs and other care services that promote early interventions, and prevention and treatment for veterans and their families, including programs that enable clients to remain independently at home for as long as possible.

    The Transport & Coordinated Veterans' Care (CVC) Programs team is responsible for managing:

    1. The Transport (travel for treatment) program, which assists Veteran Card Holders to access travel to approved medical treatment;
    2. The Coordinated Veterans' Care (CVC) Program, which aims to improve participant quality of life and decrease the risk of unplanned hospitalisation through proactive coordination of care.

    Position: Assistant Director Program Management


    The Assistant Director Program Management will work as part of a small team to manage the Transport and CVC Programs. The role involves undertaking an expansive range of complex activities including legislative interpretation, identifying options for innovative program improvements, developing internal and external program communications, advising on complex provider and client matters, networking with internal and external stakeholders, and recommending strategies aligned with the Department's goals and objectives.

    The ideal candidate will work with independence under broad direction, concurrently resolving issues and developing quality outcomes. The ideal candidate will evaluate risk and use professional judgement when communicating and making decisions in the context of a changing environment.

    Duties:


    1. Cultivate productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
    2. Provide leadership, mentoring, feedback and coaching support to staff;
    3. Contribute to building organisational capability and responsiveness;
    4. Identify critical information to assist with harnessing opportunities and minimising problems;
    5. Respond flexibly to changing program demands;
    6. Prepare high quality written documentation including ministerial submissions, briefs, correspondence, Commission submissions and DVA executive briefings;
    7. With a strategic focus, lead complex projects and be responsible for achieving specified program outcomes;
    8. Contribute to the design, implementation and monitoring of program improvements to meet the Department's objectives;
    9. Undertake research and complex data analysis to support effective delivery of the programs;
    10. Maintain expert knowledge and provide advice and technical expertise to guide program activities; and
    11. Undertake risk assessment and risk management activities for the program.

    Eligibility:


    Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS). All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
