    About the Office of Supply Chain Resilience

    Are you interested in building a more resilient Australia? Then come work for the Office of Supply Chain Resilience (OSCR).

    We work with industry, academia, international partners and across government to identify and monitor critical supply chain vulnerabilities that could impact Australia's national interest, including our national security, economic stability, and the safety and well-being of Australians.

    About the teams

    The Domestic Policy team advises the Government on supply chain risks and coordinates actions across whole of government to build resilience across Australian supply chains.

    The Global Policy team engages with the Indo-Pacific and other key partners to build consensus on critical supply chain risks, drive transformation and diversification strategies, and strengthen crisis coordination and response in the region.

    We're a high-performing and influential team, engaged on a range of emerging and cross cutting issues affecting domestic and global supply chains. We work closely with OSCR's other teams – Industry and Expert Insights, and Economic and Strategic Assessments – to develop high-quality, holistic policy advice that incorporates economic, industry, security and international considerations.

    Our ideal candidate

    We're looking for people who love complex and inter-connected policy, who can provide advice that incorporates economic, industry, national security and international considerations.

    We are seeking team-orientated, flexible and highly motivated people to make a direct impact on supply chain resilience and diversification.

    The key skills we're seeking across our Senior Policy Analyst and Assistant Manager roles are:

    • Specialist expertise (or the capacity to develop expertise) on complex supply chain issues;
    • A strong ability to lead and/or contribute to a high performing team, managing workflows and creating an effective team culture;
    • Strong conceptual and analytical skills, particularly the ability to efficiently synthesise materials into briefing and advice;
    • Sound judgement and an aptitude for pre-empting and creatively solving problems;
    • Ability to communicate with influence, writing clearly and concisely, with excellent attention to detail;
    • Ability to objectively assess evidence and apply facts within a legal and policy framework;
    • Sound technical data knowledge and an ability to engage with application developers, data engineers and/or database administrators.

    Candidates with an existing security clearance (NV1 or higher) are considered desirable.

    Our department has a commitment to inclusion and diversity, with an ambition of being the best possible place to work. This reflects the importance we place on our people and on creating a workplace culture where each and every one of us is valued and respected for our contribution. Our ideal candidate adds to this culture and our workplace in their own way.

    What you will do

    As a Senior Policy Analyst at the APS Level 6, you will work with colleagues to:

    • Bring expertise (or the capacity to develop expertise) on supply chains and disruption risks in order to inform analysis and policy advice;
    • Prepare briefings and policy advice, including working on New Policy Proposals and Cabinet processes, on measures that build domestic and international resilience and diversification opportunities;
    • Engage and collaborate across government and internationally on critical and emerging supply chain issues, including for example critical pharmaceuticals, chemicals, clean energy technology and others;
    • Use judgement and professional scepticism to assess evidence and issues;
    • Monitor global events and identify potential disruptions impacting Australia's access to critical imports;
    • Implement the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework Supply Chain Agreement, including international policy engagement and regional public sector capacity building.

    In addition to the above, as an Assistant Manager at the Executive Level 1, you will:

    • Play a leadership role by guiding, mentoring and developing staff;
    • Represent the department in engagements with the private sector and foreign governments;
    • Connect and influence the government's broader policy agenda for industry, resilience and preparedness;
    • Oversee, maintain and analyse policy initiatives related to supply chains that incorporate a broad understanding of the policy environment.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.

    Some positions require a Baseline security clearance and others require a Negative Vetting 1 or Negative Vetting 2 security clearance. Successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at the required level.
