    About the Role

    St Vincent's is a non-participating VAD service, however we acknowledge that patients we are caring for may also be engaging with VAD. In response to this SVHM has developed a tiered clinical governance framework for patients raising VAD to ensure holistic, sensitive and compassionate response as part of our usual palliative care services. This upholds our commitments to end of life care including respect for patient choice, our ethical standards, and legislative requirements.

    Our Advance Care Planning response is designed to ensure that we know our patients health values and preferences in advance so this can inform care if a time comes when they no longer have capacity.

    You will be primarily based at the Fitzroy and Caritas Christi campus' and be responsible for responding to Advance Care Planning and Response to Voluntary Assisted Dying referrals. You will also contribute to other relevant ACP and Response to VAD initiatives as applicable, including:

    • Assisting with the implementation of the ACP and Response to VAD program in partnership with the ACP and Response to VAD team
    • Providing support to ACP Champions to foster engagement and ACP uptake
    • Developing initiatives for the improvement of ACP awareness for patients and SVHM staff
    • Provide education, clinical support and advice, including the legal framework and SVHA ethos supporting both programs
    • Attend to ACP and Response to VAD referrals

    The classification for this position will be ZF4 ($107,962 per annum pro rata)

    Your Contribution

    • A tertiary qualification in nursing, including AHPRA registration
    • Sound knowledge of the Medical Treatment Planning and Decisions Act 2016 and the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2017.
    • Demonstrated high level communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Post Graduate qualification in a health related field.
    • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain
    • Knowledge of legal and ethical requirements relevant to this program, especially in regard to our identity as a ministry of the Catholic Church.
