    General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management)

    Celebrating 40 years, beloved Mackay Club, Magpies Sporting Club, is seeking a passionate and experienced General Manager (GM) to take the helm.

    The Club is about to embark on a $30 million multistage redevelopment, establishing Magpies as one of the largest sporting Clubs in Queensland.

    Nestled in paradise, the Mackay region offers the best of both worlds for an experienced GM looking to escape the hustle and bustle of a busy city.

    When you're not on-site managing Mackay's leading venue, unwind and reset with everything Mackay has to offer Hop in a boat to enjoy a day out fishing on the Great Barrier Reef or kayak through lush wetlands.

    Explore the rainforests of Eungella National Park and unwind on pristine beaches.

    Mackay's city centre is bustling with constant energy, boasting a stunning marina, fresh seafood markets, and a thriving sporting, culture and arts scene.

    Mackay is also the key service centre to the large mining complexes inland.
    The Club is seeking an enthusiastic and driven GM to oversee their comprehensive operations.

    The Club offers an array of diverse food and beverage outlets, the region's largest Gaming Lounge, a thriving events department and has a strong connection to the local community.

    Supporting 9 affiliated sporting Clubs, providing community support through their grants programs, and a range of individual sporting sponsorships, the Club's unwavering commitment to their community is reflected in their consistently strong financial results.

    The incoming GM will have the privilege of collaborating with a highly experienced, professional executive team, each member boasting over a decade of dedication to the Club.

    This leadership role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to a multitude of exciting initiatives, including working alongside the Strategic Projects Manager to oversee a significant $30 million renovation project.

    The renovation plan itself encompasses a comprehensive refresh and expansion of the venue for both customers and staff.
    Managing the day-to-day operations of the Club, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate through previous experience:
    A positive and engaging leadership style, working collaboratively with a professional management team and hospitality environment.
    A genuine commitment to compliance including AML/CTF, liquor, gaming, and social responsibility
    Capacity for strategic thinking and implementation of strategic and operational plans.
    Strong business acumen and a high level of understanding of Club finances.
    A proven track record to grow revenues in all areas, particularly driving gaming revenue.
    A passion for driving positive workplace culture and exceptional customer service with customers and staff.
    Liaising with and supporting an experienced stable board.
