    We have a unique opportunity with a newly created role for a Data Analyst / Scientist to work in the Earth Sciences service line. The Service Line includes disciplines Hydrogeology and Hydrology (H&H), Land Quality & Remediation (LQ&R) and Soils, Geochemistry, Toxicology and Risk (SGTR). The team delivers projects across SLR's market sectors including Mining & Minerals, Built Environment, Infrastructure, Industry and Power, with a focus on resource projects. Most of the work will be in the H&H team to begin with and have potential to grow within the business.

    The role is diverse and provides a great opportunity for the right person to assist and drive innovative and sustainable project solutions and make this role their own. We're looking for someone with a passion for data management and analysis that enjoys working with people (clients or team). For the right candidate we're open to the position being based out of any of our offices.

    Job tasks and responsibilities
    You will be a positive team player with a great sense of humour, that goes without saying You will also be responsible for the following:


    • Interpret and analyse data using statistical techniques, such as Principal Component Analysis and or Multi-Criteria Analyses.

    • Conduct data collection, data validation, simulation, machine learning and analysis. Experience with Earth Science data is viewed highly.

    • Lead the development of automated data capture and reporting services

    • Build data pipelines and develop standard and bespoke databases

    • Data analysis programming for interpretation and presentation of information

    • Work closely with the wider team to develop new and improved data use and analysis methods

    • Developing, facilitating and enhancing relationships between our internal and external clients and SLR team members

    • Providing advice and assistance to internal and external clients, team members and Project Manager's on projects regarding best principles and practices.

    Skills and experience
    Our ideal candidate will have 5+ year's industry experience, including experience within a consultancy, and have:


    • Appropriate tertiary qualification and or relevant industry experience.

    • Previous SAP, SQL / Python / R, Macro or Power BI experience

    • Strong statistical background and knowledge.

    • Demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to meet deadlines

    • Self-motivated and proactive with a high level of attention to detail

    • Excellent communication skills

    • Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated and ability to work effectively within a team
