What impact will you have?

As a Data Analyst, you will partner with a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders across Finance, Business and Technology teams to build our data and analytics capability.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your Business Analyst skillset in working to understand your stakeholders' requirements, and translate these into data requirements, and vice-versa.

You'll join a growing and newly formed Data Quality team within our central Financial Management Group's data modelling, data quality, and BI 'Centre of Excellence'.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, database administrators, and data managers to onboard and embed data analytic tools
  • Support strategic decisionmaking across the broader organisation by providing relevant data from the data warehouse
  • Perform data remediation investigations and participate in testing activities such as data validations and unit / UAT testing
  • Ongoing support of adhoc data queries and endtoend data analysis
  • Conduct reconciliation of data across systems to resolve discrepancies
  • Escalate data quality issues and inconsistencies for assessment and remediation, supporting continuous data quality improvement across finance platforms
  • Contribute ideas and participate in process improvement reviews

What skills will you use?
Additional to a strong interest in working in the banking and financial services industry, you will bring at least 1-2 years of hands-on experience using SQL in a data aligned role

You will also have:

  • Strong stakeholder engagement/management experience with confidence in your ability to build relationships quickly, across all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, clear and concise
  • Proficient in SQL, with experience/exposure in using traditional data bases like MS SQL Server or Teradata
  • The ability to extract and transform data from multiple sources
  • An understanding of data modelling and data warehouse concepts, data architecture principles, with exposure to big data architecture and platform solutions tools
  • A degree in statistics, maths, data analytics, or similar
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to identify reoccurring issues, and an interest in solving interesting and complex problems

Having the below would be a bonus:

  • Advanced Excel skills, Alteryx, PowerBi, or similar experience with other data tools
  • Experience within the finance industry, and/or financial product knowledge
  • An understanding of Enterprise Data Management and knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data risk management processes, tools, and concepts
