Key Responsibilities

In the new program, older Australians will be independently assessed for their care needs.

Based on the assessment, the classification structure will then assign older Australians to a category that specifies a level of funding for their Commonwealth subsidised aged care supports.

The Department has worked with external providers to develop and test the new classification system.
The Analyst will lead the ongoing development of the classification system


This will include:
Using Excel and/or statistical software to analyse existing datasets of clients clinical characteristics and service requirements.
Considering new classifications or groupings that could be used to classify users of the new in-home aged care program.
Liaison with clinical experts to test the clinical suitability of the proposed classification structure.
Liaison with consultancies and other third parties who are supporting the development of the new in-home aged care program.
Conducting supplementary research to refine the classification structure.
Managing staff who are developing the new classification structure.
Working with other teams across the branch and wider division.
Key Capabilities
Extensive experience in managing and analysing raw data, and large data sets.
Experience in working with consultancies and other third parties.
Ability to synthesise findings from data analysis and communicate these findings to senior executives.
Strong conceptual and analytical skills, including sound judgement and the ability to interpret information.
Experience in managing staff.
Desirable Experience

Ability to conduct analysis of large datasets using statistical analysis software (e.g. R or SAS, etc).
Prior knowledge of aged care and classification frameworks.
