Position Overview


As the Resource Recovery Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in leading the Resource Recovery Service Unit, overseeing a team of up to 20 operators responsible for waste recovery and processing at the City's Ranford Road Resource Recovery & Waste Transfer Station.

This position will also encompass the management of On-demand collection services, bulk heavy haulage of waste, transfer station operations and the management of relevant contracts.

You will be instrumental in managing waste management requirements for the City, handling up to 40,000 tonnes per annum.

_ In this role, you will undertake duties such as:_

  • Lead and manage a team of operators, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of waste recovery and processing services.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and best practice standards, promoting a 'Culture of Care' to prevent incidents, injuries, and workrelated illnesses.
  • Collaborate with the Waste Services Leadership Team and other stakeholders across the City to drive operational efficiency, innovation, and teamwork.
  • Develop and implement performance frameworks to monitor, assess, and report on operational performance and risks.
  • Manage the bulk haulage fleet, transfer station, and associated plant & equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Oversee the City's $6 million per annum operating budget, driving performance and efficiency through effective financial management.
  • Handle contract management with key suppliers providing wasterelated processing services to the City.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in a related field such as Resource Recovery, Transport, Environmental Science or Waste Management
  • Proven leadership experience and/or qualification in frontline or business management
  • Demonstrated experience in waste management with a focus on waste recovery and processing operations.
  • Confident with using Microsoft Office package as well as writing concise and analytical reports.
  • Ability to work outside of usual working hours with a strong dedicated team with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Current satisfactory National Police Certificate
