The Transport Strategy and Planning Division develops policies and legal instruments; and establishes strategic plans, standards and program management frameworks for network development to deliver customer, community and economic benefits and outcomes.

The Planning and Technical Services Directorate undertakes a range of functions including project pipeline development through a project delivery interface, leading and coordinating specialist economic analysis, coordination of State and Commonwealth National Partnership agreement processes, transport planning project management functions, business case development, enabling innovation and facilitating engagement with specialist services and disciplines across Engineering, Environment & Spatial fields within the private sector to ensure a high quality of services and fit-for-purpose products and providing technical advice to the Department across the project lifecycle.

The Opportunity
The Manager, Transport Planning is responsible for the development and management of the Transport Investment Program Pipeline, coordination of funding submissions, liaison with and reporting to State and Commonwealth funding and oversight agencies, and provision of strategic and detailed economic analysis for initiatives, responsible for:

• Overseeing the development and ongoing program management of a pipeline of transport investment initiatives.
• Implementing improvements to strategic investment planning processes.
• Coordination of production of business cases and provision of strategic and detailed economic analysis for initiatives.
• Liaising with and reporting to State and Commonwealth funding and oversight agencies.

About You
We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative candidate with experience in providing leadership and management to senior technical professionals. Your background should include a strong understanding of investment planning processes, socio-economic evaluation methodologies, and the development of complex business cases. Your ability to manage stakeholder relationships, coupled with strong analytical skills, will be crucial in delivering clear recommendations and facilitating effective program management.

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and skills in managing complex stakeholder engagements and fostering cooperation across a variety of settings and work. With exceptional analytical and research capabilities, demonstrated experience in the provision of specialised professional advice and the development of strategic recommendations to drive program success are crucial. Financial acumen and prior experience in program management will be essential in leading, motivating, and influencing our workforce to achieve outcomes.

Qualifications/Education
A recognised degree or postgraduate qualification in engineering or the discipline of planning or transport planning providing eligibility for professional accreditation is required.

Special Conditions

• The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
• Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
