    Mater Advocacy and Protection Unit Project Lead Psychology, Counselling & Social Work (Healthcare & Medical)Government - State (Government & Defence) Mater Health is proposing the design and implementation of an organisational framework for consumers experiencing or at-risk of experiencing abuse who engage with Mater staff and services.

    The proposed Mater Advocacy and Protection Unit (MAP Unit) aims to facilitate the provision of high value care through employing a holistic and coordinated approach to service delivery across Mater's Queensland-wide facilities, for those experiencing possible Child Protection, Domestic and Family Violence, Sexual Assault, and Modern Slavery concerns.

    The MAP Unit framework focuses on providing a central and specialised resource to support the awareness, skills and knowledge of clinical and non-clinical staff across multiple levels of the organisation in responding to these at-risk cohorts.

    The MAP Unit will involve integrating the policies, procedures, training, education, research and clinical consultation services to provide multimodal, streamlined, evidence based and coordinated responses to these high-risk, vulnerable consumer cohorts who engage with Mater's health services.

    The role of the MAP Unit Project Lead is to identify, review and implement key systems and processes to enable clinical staff to deliver the unit's core functions including:

    To provide direct clinical advocacy and consultation services to staff, stakeholders and consumers on complex presentations within the Mater health context, To deliver a range of multimodal contemporary training and education, To develop procedures that support the implementation of risk and compliance activities and preventative measures, To embed a research and evaluative framework in order to inform the key functions of the unit and guide contemporary practice including use of data, To develop processes to ensure organisational requirements are identified and responded to where they relate to changes in Child Protection, Domestic and Family Violence, Sexual Assault, and Modern Slavery reform including the role of safeguarding.


    Salary range:
    $ $70.77 (HP Level 5) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 What you'll be doing In this newly created position, you will be: Developing, documenting and implementing processes to provide an integrated clinical response to consumers experiencing abuse, including:identifying a centralised intake processreviewing screening and practice toolsembedding consumer feedback and participation processes.

    Reviewing, coordinating and streamlining the training and education for Child Protection and Domestic and Family Violence staff within the unit Developing and implementing systems for collecting and evaluating data related to high-risk cohorts Benchmarking and engaging partners in aspects of process design including lived-experience experts and health services Identifying opportunities for funding, including completing grants and funding applications.

    Review and maintenance of data related to sustainability of the unit as well as project outcomes Identifying processes for recording and reporting organisational risk, related to meeting legislative and statutory requirements and obligations in the area of high-risk cohorts Collaborate with Mater's Risk and Audit team to support the assessment and implementation of organisational requirements where they relate to at risk patient cohorts Establishing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Mater Education; Mater Research; Universities and NGOs to establish research, student education and funding opportunities Providing strategic influence and advocacy in the area of abuse, including preparing briefs and conference presentations Engage in continuous project evaluation and review of performance targets About you We are searching for someone who is/has: Current degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)Knowledge and/or work experience in the area of vulnerable and at-risk populations is essential, in particular Child Protection and Domestic and Family Violence.

    Healthcare knowledge and/or experience is desirable but not essential Demonstrated advanced knowledge and experience of contemporary evidence-based practice and clinical service delivery models in health care and ability to apply this knowledge strategically to achieve redesign and innovative solutions to complex connecting care issues Ability to work autonomously to achieve goals of the work unit Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and policy, and an ability to implement legislative requirements into clinical practice Demonstrated high level of inter-personal and communication skills evidenced through an ability to negotiate, manage conflict and consult effectively with key stakeholders Demonstrated ability to develop high quality written documents Highly developed organisation skills with the ability to set priorities, manage competing priorities Ability to lead change through improvement activities in a complex environment Mater is Queensland's largest and most innovative not-for-profit healthcare service, providing care for almost 700,000 patients a year across a network of 11 hospitals.
