Description
UGL'S Utilities team designs, constructs and maintains critical infrastructure across the water and power sectors. Ranging from wastewater treatment plants to power stations.

We design and construct the following assets; power generation, transmission lines, substations, electrical distribution networks, water and waste water treatment plans and water pipelines.


UGL Utilities team is currently looking for an experienced Project Controls Lead to join our Genex Kidson Project involving the design, construction and installation of a high voltage transmission line from Kidston to Mt Fox in Queensland, and a new 275kV switching station located at Mt Fox.


About the role


The Project Controls Lead is accountable for providing detailed project controls capability to UGL's Project team, including scheduling/planning, delay analysis, cost reporting, forecasting, estimating support and detailed analysis to identify efficiencies and project delivery improvements.


What will a day look like in this role

  • Provide overall ownership of the Contracts Project Controls Management Plan ensuring it is periodically audited and reviewed in accordance with the Audit schedule
  • Ensure all personnel are trained in the use of the approved systems and procedures and methodologies for planning, scheduling, estimating and cost tracking of Projects on the contract
  • Document variations and provide analysis for commercial claims
  • Manage the implementation of the approved project controls systems for use by UGL on the contract in accordance with the Project Controls Management Plan
  • Establishment of the core systems on the project leveraging the existing management systems developed and ensuring established procedures are being followed
  • Participate in periodic project reviews as required providing the necessary reporting to demonstrate project performance

What would we expect you to bring to the team

  • Knowledge of cost and project controls policies and processes are required
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of project controls and schedule principals including Earned Value Analysis, Monte Carlo analysis etc
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of Primavera P
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of MS Project
  • Strong understanding of commercial obligations for projects
  • Experience controlling project and contract expenditure inclusive of productivity, labour costs, equipment costs, material and consumable costs, Subcontractor and Supplier costs
