    As a senior member of the Chambers of the Chief Justice of the FCFCOA (Division 1)/Chief Judge of the FCFCOA (Division 2) ('the Chief Justice'), the role of the National Executive Adviser is to provide high level support to the Chief Justice.

    The National Executive Adviser is part of a discrete team assisting the Chief Justice to support the exercise of the Chief Justice's statutory duties and exercise of their day-to-day responsibilities across two extremely busy Courts. Together the Courts comprise 122 judges; hundreds of legal, social science and related support staff; registries and circuits across 43 locations; and are responsibility for around 100,000 filings per year. The National Executive Adviser will also work closely with the staff assisting the Chief Executive Officer and Principal Registrar (CEO/PR) of the FCFCOA and play a key role as part of the Courts' National Operations Team.

    The Chief Justice is responsible for the management of the administrative affairs of the Courts and the effective, orderly and expeditious discharge of the business of the Courts under the FCFCOA Act, assisted by the CEO/PR.

    The National Executive Adviser provides critical support and assistance to the Chief Justice. This includes carrying out high level legal and policy work, legal research, preparing complex and sensitive correspondence and reports and drafting submissions from all areas of the Courts' jurisdiction. The National Executive Adviser also develops policies and protocols across a broad range of issues relating to the administration of the Courts and liaises with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

    The National Executive Adviser is also responsible for planning and managing the content of programs for the legal education, training and wellbeing of judges, including the Judicial Library, an interactive online platform for judicial education and communication.

    The role is multi-dimensional and demanding, requiring exceptional agility and organisational skills, together with strong communication and interpersonal skills and highly developed legal skills. The occupant will demonstrate leadership through the performance of all functions. They will show great initiative; be highly motivated and able to work under pressure.

    The National Executive Adviser reports to the National Strategic Adviser - – Legal, Policy and Statistical Analysis. They will have an important leadership role with oversight of the Legal and Policy Officer within the Chief Justice's legal and policy team as well as the Executive Assistants and the National Executive Coordinator within the Chief Justice's team.
