About St Joseph's Primary
St Joseph's is a Catholic Primary School located in O'Connor ACT. The school caters for students in Preschool - Year 6 and has an enrolment of 308 students in the primary school. Students attending our school come from a variety of backgrounds and nationalities. St Joseph's is a vibrant place of teaching and learning, where students and staff work towards individual and community goals that promote growth and improvement for all. About the Role
The Classroom Support Assistant (CSA) is a member of the Classroom Support Team (CST) that plays a key role in supporting classroom teachers to ensure that all students with diverse learning needs can access and participate in the curriculum and activities in order to achieve the academic goals and social skills required for independent learning and confident participation.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting students with day to day activities

Care of flora and fauna

Supervising groups of students other than in a classroom situation

Under direction, taking students for their individualised teaching plans in specific areas, and reporting to Teachers

Working in collaboration with a Teacher or group of Teachers in the implementation of learning and teaching strategies for an individual student, groups of students or class

Researching reference material under the direction of a Teacher

Assisting with the selection and preparation of teaching resources that meet student needs and interests

Receiving, issuing, distributing, stock-taking and safeguarding of teaching resources, goods, supplies, stores, materials and equipment

Assembling and dismantling of, and carrying out minor maintenance on, equipment or teaching aids for demonstration or practical work

Essential Criteria

Must hold a relevant Working with Vulnerable People registration

Relevant work experience would be beneficial

Knowledge and training equivalent to completion of a Certificate IV in School/Education Support (or be currently studying) would be beneficial

Applies knowledge in areas and a range of skills in a variety of roles and tasks

Uses discretion and judgement in organising and achieving outcomes in time constraints

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, in particular the ability to relate well to students and to work in teams with staff members

Initiative and the ability to handle a number of tasks concurrently, working independently and flexibly to adjust to changing situations

You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.

Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment in accordance with CECG policy.
