What are we looking for?


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Head of Data and Analytics.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving data-driven decision-making, implementing innovative analytics strategies, and maximizing the value of data across our organization.


As Head of Data and Analytics at Slater + Gordon, you will take the lead on all our data initiatives, developing and executing a comprehensive data strategy that not only aligns with our business goals but supports our practices across 20+ offices.

In this position you will guide our Data team, cultivating a data-driven culture across the Slater + Gordon and breaking down silos to enable consistent informed decision-making while adhering to best practices in data governance.

This role is based in Melbourne with flexibility to work between office and home. This is a permanent full-time position.


Key to your ongoing success in this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data and analytics strategy that aligns with Slater + Gordon's business goals and objectives.
  • Lead a team of data scientists, analysts, and engineers to drive datadriven insights, develop predictive models, and optimize business performance.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including senior executives and department heads, to understand their data and analytics needs and deliver actionable insights.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of data infrastructure, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security.
  • Drive the development and deployment of advanced analytics techniques, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, to enhance operational efficiency, client service, and business outcomes.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with external partners, vendors, and data providers to enhance data capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection and privacy regulations.
What will you bring?

It is essential you have the following skills and attributes:

  • Degree in BIS or similar
  • Proven experience 6+ in leading data and analytics teams
  • Strong expertise in data analysis, statistical modelling, data visualization, and data governance.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, as well as experience with analytics tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of data management, data warehousing, and data integration techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in leveraging machine learning and AI technologies to drive business outcomes.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex data insights to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Familiarity with legal and regulatory frameworks related to data privacy and protection is desirable.
It would be great if you also had the following skills and experience:

  • Information Technology Degree
  • SQL Server 2012+ Certified
  • SSIS, SSRS, TABLEAU, ETL
  • Data warehousing
  • Knowledge of methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, or ITIL)
