This is an exceptional Equities Execution Support Engineer position with one of our clients, a global Investment Bank, in support of the APAC Equity Trading team in Sydney.

Position Purpose:

You will be joining the Global Market Equities Execution production support team provides an end-to-end support service for electronic equity trading applications and users in APAC. Interacting and working alongside the front office, developers, business analysts, middle office, and infrastructure teams. The role also involves working with the front office trading desk on the trading floor in APAC. Being the forefront of supporting the applications the team members have high exposure to and work with the Front-to-Back Business teams on a daily basis within a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Position Focus:

The role offers the chance to take a high-profile role in providing proactive and reactive support to the Equities Trading business and its clients whilst working closely with development and production support teams. The role-based in Sydney supports trading area of the equity trading business across over 16 APAC exchanges, including connectivity and market data. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to and lead projects based on the core production management workstreams such as monitoring enhancement programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Incident management- business and technology communication, coordination, and resolution of incidents, from external issues such as exchange problems to internal application bugs impacting the production environment
Problem management – post-incident review ensuring that the issue has been permanently resolved what value add items can be completed to ensure the issue does not re-occur
Drive an operational environment for front-office business applications from daily operational tasks, incident & problem management, change, and new application/service onboarding, ensuring a stable operating environment for the applications.
Morning and weekend checks – in conjunction with global teams ensuring system readiness for the start of day and start of week

Technical & Behavioural Competencies:

Several years working experience in a financial institution or vendor house in providing equity trading solutions and dealing with business users on support or requirement gathering.
Front Office users support experience is desirable
Getting things done in large organisations – understanding of where to use processes and how to build and operate a network
Technical knowledge on supporting FIX, Algo, and market data are required
APAC markets specific trading knowledge and previous experience with cash equities trading systems will be an advantage
Experience with using UNIX, Linux, Wintel, Perl/Shell scripting, Excel, and VBA as well as ability to write SQL to extract, patch data and troubleshooting in Sybase and Oracle databases

Competencies & Ideal Candidate Profile:

A strong team player, and able to work in a global organisation
A Computer Science, IT, or Financial Markets focused degree
Prior working experience in a financial institution or vendor in providing equity trading solutions & dealing with business users on support or requirement gathering.
Front Office users support experience is desirable
