    BP is transforming its former oil refinery in Kwinana to an integrated energy hub, where it plans to produce Biofuels and Renewable Hydrogen. Worley is proud to be providing Engineering services to the BP Kwinana Renewable Fuels project and to contribute to a more sustainable world for a new era of Renewable Fuels. The Kwinana Renewable Fuels project is one of BP's five biofuel projects across the globe as BP aim's to produce around 100,000 barrels of biofuels per day by 2030.     As a Mechanical Engineer Level I , you will be reporting to Lead Mechanical Engineer and will be responsible for providing discipline specific engineering services to Worley and its clients encompassing technical support within the Mechanical discipline for the hydrocarbons, energy, and chemicals industries to enable construction of various types of production plants and facilities.

    What you'll do

    We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer Level I to join our team in Perth .

    The role responsibilities include:

  • Deliver discipline specific engineering services that meet Worley, its client's and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform discipline specific engineering services such as: prepare detailed design deliverables including datasheets, specifications, scope of supply, technical bid evaluations, drawings, specifications, calculations and reports;review of vendor data and drawings; liaise with vendors during completion of technical bid evaluation and clarification phase and then throughout package execution and delivery; ensure the project scope is clear and identify changes to scope as required in line with project change management processes; contribute to appropriate studies, analyses and recommend actions; participate in relevant meetings, follow required checking procedures;
  • Communicate effectively within the discipline team, with clients and other project stakeholders, and make presentations as required.
  • Technically evaluate vendor equipment supply proposals.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships within Worley, with its clients and other stakeholders.
  • Identify issues and problems; develop appropriate and innovative solutions and ask for assistance if required.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in the discipline.
  • What you'll have

  • Within the Mechanical discipline: Excellent technical and practical engineering skills and able to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its clients.Working knowledge in design and specification such as Shell and Tube heat exchangers, Air cooled heat exchangers, Process columns including internals, drums and pumps is preferred.Experience with pressure equipment design standards; ASME and Australian standards, including Australian requirements for verification and registration is preferred.Experience working with API and TEMA standards for equipment listed above.Understanding of piping and pipe supports and the interfaces with mechanical equipment.Knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the discipline, including: Brownfields Engineering, Greenfields Engineering, Equipment layout, Read and interpret drawings, including general mechanical, piping and P&ID drawings.An understanding of the basic requirements of other disciplines.Knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Skilled in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and discipline specific software including: Navisworks, Bluebeam / Adobe Suite.
  • Highly effective people skills such as team, interpersonal, and mentoring skills, along with effective personal management skills including the ability to manage time and priorities.
  • Proactive, goal oriented, excellent attention to detail, effectively manages change to work tasks and the work environment and demonstrates initiative and a willingness to learn and continuously improve on performance.
  • A person of integrity who is trusted by others and consistently honours their commitments and is also able to work effectively in small to large multi-disciplinary teams and share and transfer knowledge within teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to convey information and ideas to others, and make presentations when required.
  • Able to identify issues, problems and opportunities; make timely decisions; develop appropriate and innovative solutions; and ask for assistance if required.
  • A recognised engineering degree in the relevant discipline with technical and practical experience in the Mechanical / Piping disciplines and previous experience on mid-size – major projects is preferred.
  • Demonstrate behaviour and business practices commensurate with a culture of world's best health, safety and environmental performance.

  • Travel as required for project requirements, such as to vendor facilities, perform any other duties that are reasonably required from time to time, and act in the best interests of Worley at all times.
