    Description

    Role: System Administrator
    Contract Duration: Initially 12 months
    Location: Onsite in Canberra (Min 3 days onsite)
    Eligibility: Australian Citizenship required

    We are currently looking for a System Administrator for a large federal government department to be responsible for a wide range of tasks aimed at maintaining, optimising, and securing the technology systems that support the department's operations.

    In this role you will be responsible for:

    • Infrastructure Management: installing, configuring, and maintaining the hardware and software systems, including servers, network devices, storage systems, and workstations.
    • Network Administration: including LAN, WAN, and internet connections. They configure network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls, to ensure seamless connectivity and data transfer.
    • Software Administration: installation, configuration, and updates.
    • Security Management: implementing and maintaining security measures to protect the IT infrastructure from cyber threats, viruses, malware, and unauthorised access.
    • Data Backup and Recovery: establish and maintain data backup procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of critical data.
    • Technical Support: technical support to users, responding to help desk inquiries, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and resolving technical problems promptly. They may also provide training to users on IT systems and best practices.
    • Project Management: planning and implementing IT projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, or deployments of new technology solutions.
    • Monitoring and Optimisation: monitor the performance and availability of IT systems, identifying and resolving issues proactively to prevent downtime and optimise system performance. They analyse system metrics, identify trends, and implement measures to improve efficiency and reliability.
    • Documentation and Compliance: maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
