    The Department of Veterans' Affairs, Financial Operations Directorate is looking for a Team Leader Travel and Corporate Cards to manage the area and continue to support changes and improvements in the way we operate.

    Who we are looking for

    Our ideal applicants will have proven experience in Travel and Corporate Card management, with exceptional customer service, problem-solving skills, a meticulous attention to detail, and experience using financial programs and systems or (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Expense8 or similar Travel and Expense Management Systems). You will be responsive in high pressure and changing environments and have the ability to work independently and apply strategic thinking for decision making. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, be innovative, have a continuous improvement mindset and be able to implement changes.


    Duties

    • Lead, supervise and develop a small team.
    • Provide high level of customer service and respond to enquiries on Travel, Corporate Card, Expense8 and Healthy Lifestyle Benefit matters and provide factual advice in a timely manner.
    • Provide expertise and technical knowledge in Travel and Corporate Card management.
    • Undertake research interpret and apply legislative requirements including Commonwealth financial compliance and legislative frameworks to resolve moderately complex issues.
    • Manage prioritisation of own and teams workloads, checking accuracy of advice and work.
    • Contribute to the implementation and improvement of processes and contribute to workplace innovation
    • Utilise financial analysis tools, systems, to capture, research, analyse and reconcile data.
    • Preparation and approval of end of month processes including but not limited to:
      • reconciliations,
      • journals, and
      • executive and management reporting

    Eligibility

    • Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
    • All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

    Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to18 months.

    A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
