Who we are
The Finance and Investment Division supports the department to be efficient, effective, and financially sustainable.

The division provides strategic financial advice and support to the department, the offices of the minister and to industry stakeholders.

The division delivers on business objectives by partnering with the department, providing high quality customer service, advice and support and a nationally consistent approach to business, with consideration to the government's fiscal environment, its significant reform agenda, and the department's imperative to maintain financial sustainability.


Financial Operations Branch provides shared services for the department, including corporate services such as travel, credit cards, procurement, grants policy, advice and reporting, payroll services, procurement, accounts receivable, debt management and accounts payable.

The branch also provides a project management and oversight role for some of the critical projects for the division.


The Travel, Credit Cards and Concur Section within the Financial Operations Branch is responsible for providing financial services to the department.


The services we provide are:
- domestic and international travel
- official and Diplomatic Passports and visas
- credit card management
- support and management of the expense management system, Concur.


The Job

The International Travel Officer responsibilities will include:

  • providing advice and assistance on international travel, passport/visa processing, travel allowance calculations and travel acquittals
- maintaining the passport and travel register and completing quarterly passport audits
- developing and regularly reviewing work instructions for travel processes and procedures
- responding to international travel queries via the shared inbox and helpdesk phone and preparing regular reports.

  • Skills and Capabilities_
- provide support and advise to travellers
- take initiative and think proactively to bring new ideas into existing work practices
- work independently or under limited guidance and respond effectively to change
- manage financial governance requirements and compliance with the financial management framework
- strong attention to detail including written and verbal communication skills
- experience with MS Word and Excel, with the ability to quickly learn new IT systems.

  • Knowledge and experience_

The successful applicant will have experience:

  • analysing data/information, providing timely and accurate advice and communicating information specific to the role
- managing governance requirements and compliance with the financial management framework
- working independently in a team to manage time pressures and meet deadlines
- using expense management systems (i.e., Concur, QBT, Travel Pack) is desirable but not mandatory
- understanding the whole of government travel services arrangement is desirable but not mandatory.
