Make a difference and lead the new Family Carers Led Centre in the Southeast of Melbourne, Dandenong.

The Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System has created opportunities to think beyond current ways of doing things to deliver a mental health system that helps all Victorians live their best lives.

The Royal Commission findings identified the need for carers to have their own unique services and space. This new Manager role has been created to lead the South East Family Carer Led Centre (FCLC).


About the Role

Better Health Network (BHN) is a provider of health and community support services in the south east of Melbourne. Encompassing more than eighteen locations, over 700 staff work in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver health outcomes. BHN is guided by our distinct service principles which include working with people and communities to achieve their health goals, understanding the context in which people live their lives, providing friendly, affordable, joined up services with a 'no wrong door' approach.


BHN will be launching one of the new Family and Carers Led Center (FCLC) that will open across Victoria in 2023.

The Centre will provide a warm and welcoming space for families, carers and supporters. They will be co-designed by lived in experience families, cares and supporters, to provide relevant information, support and services.


We are looking for an experienced
Manager who can think differently and promote
shared leadership and decision making that supports the FCLC lived experience and broader workforce in the new
FCLC in the South East Region, Dandenong.

About you


You are a skilled and reflective manager who can lead the FCLC to be an inclusive carer led service and develop strong partnerships in the community.


You may have lived or living experience of caring for a person who has experienced serious mental health issues, however this is not required for the role.

You will create a strong sense of ownership by local mental health carers and promote the development of a shared leadership and decision making model and processes that support the FCLC lived experience workforce.


You are able to work autonomously and have tertiary qualifications in a relevant Management, Social Science, Health discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and /or education/training.
