About the Opportunity


Ensure Metcash's compliance with road transport safety regulations, enhance organization-wide transport safety skills, uphold statutory and company obligations, manage risks associated with Chain of Responsibility (COR) and public safety, and supervise safety standards, including implementing technology solutions for improved transport safety and materials handling equipment fleet.


In this Role

  • Ensure Metcash facilities comply with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) / Chain of Responsilbity (CoR) legislation and transport safety standards.
  • Serve as a resource and expert advisor across business units, offering proactive support on HVNL, CoR, and dangerous goods transportation.
  • Develop and deliver training materials for inhouse HVNL/CoR compliance and transport safety training.
  • Lead preparation for external audits and conduct internal audits, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Supervise load restraint testing, assist in vehicle procurement, and maintain transport safety metrics and reports, including CoR risk register and load restraint methodology development.
  • Coordinate Metcash's approach to Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) safety including establishing safety specifications/standards for MHE including forklifts, EPJs, etc including initiatives such as speed limits, proximity technology.

You're Likely a Match If you have**- Extensive knowledge and experience in the heavy vehicles and road transport/logistics industry.

  • Proficiency in presenting to diverse audiences, both internally and externally.
  • Capability to train others in Heavy Vehicle National Law compliance.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to work autonomously, adhere to deadlines, and deliver concise reports to the Senior Management Team (SMT).
  • Desirable qualification: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Desirable: Experience with materials handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts, electronic pallet jacks, and related safety technologies and/or training will be advantageous.
