Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group's relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services.

The division also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing equities, markets, lending and transaction banking execution capabilities to other CBA business units that allows them to capture opportunities with business customers.


The Business Oversight team is responsible for the line 1 Operational Risk Management across Commodities, Trade and Carbon (CTC) including: implementation of the Operational Risk Framework, control monitoring and reporting, trade surveillance, advising and challenging on business risk issues.

The Associate Director Risk and Control Advisory and Delivery will be a key member of the team responsible assisting in governance and reporting.

You will be able to analyse large data sets and draw out key insights. You will be proficient in data visualization to communicate data or information succinctly, clearly and effectively to stakeholders.


Your day could look like but not limited to:

  • Drive continuous improvement of the business control environment by using data to generate insights and recommend courses of action.
  • Delivering on the requirements or the ORMF including using the RiskInSite (RiS) system.
  • Draft CTC specific papers for various governance forums
  • Revise and update processes, tools and templates as required and train/educate impacted teams.
  • Perform quality analysis to assist senior leaders make informed decisions.
  • Develop an understanding of key risks associated with the CTC businesses and how CTC controls processes and procedures help to minimise or mitigate the impact of these risks.
  • Provide support for, and proactively suggest improvements in risk data, reporting, control and risk monitoring as identified from time to time
  • Develop an understanding of control processes within CTC division.
  • Perform and complete other crossrole and teamwide tasks as required by management from time to time.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Data visualization skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Ability to analyse large data sets into meaningful digestible insights
  • Python skills are preferred
