About the role


We are seeking a dedicated Parenting Support Practitioner You will support to build a safe and inclusive community where parents want to raise their children.

Additionally, you will facilitate evidence-based group parenting education programs and ongoing parenting support groups or playgroups.

Responsibilities include

  • Deliver highly effective and appropriate parenting support services to families
  • Delivers highly effective and developmentally appropriate evidenced based support services to children and families
  • Develops positive and effective relationships with those in a parenting role, children and the broader community which encourage selfdetermination
  • Effectively manage the delivery of community engagement and development strategies and activities Educate and assist clients with regard to their rights, roles and responsibilities, including participation and empowerment strategies
This is a permanent part-time position, 26.6 hours per week, based in Sunshine, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 5.

You will have

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Early Childhood, Counselling, Community Development, Welfare or related field, a degree qualification preferred
  • Relevant experience in Social Service environment is required
  • As CaPSS comes under the TSA FV Stream training and/or experience in family violence is ideal
  • Understanding and commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army
  • A VIC Driver's Licence
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
