- Full-time ongoing employment
- 35 hour working week and generous entitlements
- Ongoing training, learning and development within the Operational Officer Program
- Attractive annual salary - $90,915 - $100,316 p.a. plus 10.5% superannuation
- One 'Agreed Absence' leave day per calendar month in recognition of the hours worked and professional commitment to the organisation
- 5 weeks recreation leave per annum for Western Zone location, in addition to remote area allowances
- Have volunteer and/or emergency services experience and an understanding of risk management principles and safety systems
- Have field operational coordination experience
- Have an understanding and experience with fire mitigation
- Have the desire and ability to learn new skills and qualifications
- Support operational activity including support of other agencies
- Have the ability to build the capability of small teams, beyond incident attendance (e.g. mentoring, knowledge transfer)
- Provide excellent customer service to our communities and highly valued volunteer members
- NSW RFS Advanced Firefighter certification or equivalent
- Current Driver Licence
- Willingness and ability to undertake a Certificate IV in a relevant discipline or equivalent expertise, if not already held
- A cover letter (maximum two pages) which addresses the essential requirement of the role and outlines why you are interested and why you believe you are suited to the role.
- A resume outlining your skills, experience and qualifications and two professional referees; and
- A copy of your qualifications as per the essential requirements of the role.
- The successful applicants will be required to travel regularly and must be prepared to work in various locations.

The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) is the lead agency for bush fire management and mitigation in NSW. The RFS respond to a range of emergencies including structure fires, motor vehicle accidents and storms. In additional to providing fire protection to communities across NSW, the RFS also provides rescue services and support to other emergency services.

The Operational Officer (OpO) Program is a NSW Rural Fire Service initiative to create and encourage a mobile and agile workforce across the state. The program is a unique opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of NSW RFS activities in district and regional roles, as well as other specialised sections across the organisation. The role provides a broad range of services in a team environment that lead to better protection of the community from bush fires and other emergencies.
