Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice, although this will generally be confined to matters relating to the immediate work area, service provision or educational program and is unlikely to impact substantially on whole of school operations.

    • Graffiti removal
    • Mowing and edging as required
    • Keep storage facilities clean and tidy.
    • Working through a schedule of regular tasks and maintenance audits.
    • General setting up and packing away after major events.
    • Maintain amenities / minor cleaning tasks where required to ensure OHS requirements are met
    • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and also with minimum supervision within a team environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct grounds checks for hazards, repairs needed and work required and address issues as required within OH&S guidelines;
    • Moving equipment and materials.
    • Maintenance of school equipment to required WorkSafe standards.
    • External cleaning of buildings as required.
    • General maintenance of school grounds.
    • Pruning and trimming of plants.
    • Guttering and roof maintenance.
    • Maintenance of gardens and pathways.
    • Liaising with other contractors at times under the direction of the Principal.
    • Keep storage facilities clean and tidy.
    • Assist with general setting up and packing away after major events.
    • Maintain amenities / minor cleaning tasks where required to ensure OHS requirements are met
    • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and also with minimum supervision within a team environment.
    • Report any dangers or safety hazards immediately ensuring areas are made safe when appropriate.

    Who May Apply

Individuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.

    EEO AND OHS Commitment

Applicants seeking part-time employment are encouraged to apply for any teaching service position and, if they are the successful candidate, request a reduced time fraction. Such requests will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis and will be subject to the operational requirements of the school.

Parkhill Primary School is located in Ashwood, approximately 15km east of the CBD in the City of Monash. Parkhill is a small sized school of approximately 190 students. The size of the school combined with a friendly school community provides a positive, welcoming, stimulating family atmosphere. There is a real sense of belonging and pride. The school¿s motto is nurturing success . Teachers understand and focus on individual student¿s skills, attributes, and needs. They are passionate and professional. The school is progressive - a busy and vibrant place. Parents are supportive and involved. Facilities are spacious and attractive, and classrooms have been updated as a result of funding with a rebuild . We have just finished renovating and extending our gymnasium which includes a full-sized basketball court and upgrading of our performing arts space. Achievement is recognized and appreciated, effort praised and reinforced.

The Parkhill community is quite socially and culturally diverse. It is expected that this will continue to be a feature of the school's demographics. Enrolments have been steady, and numbers are expected to be maintained over the next few years.

Parkhill has a tradition of meeting the diverse educational, social and welfare needs of students and families in creative and flexible ways. Examples of this approach include the Parkhill Community Garden, Lunchtime Clubs, Parkhill TV, Challenge Programs, Specialist Subjects which includes STEAM, PE, PA, LOTE (Mandarin) and a wide range of Intervention and Extension Programs. Parkhill is also a host school for the GATEWAYS program.

Parental participation is a key feature of the school. An active School Council and PFA reflect the increasing levels of parent involvement, as does the number of parents who regularly actively support various school programs.

The staff profile reflects an excellent balance of both gender and experience. Staff work co-operatively in teams within levels and in curriculum groups. Non-teaching staff (integration aides, support staff, welfare staff etc.) work closely with teachers to maximize outcomes for students. All staff demonstrate a keen interest in, and commitment to Professional Learning.

A dynamic, representative, and effective staff Leadership Team provides direction, support and accountability.

The school operates an Out of School Hours Care Program providing excellent daily before and after school care for families. A school holiday program is also available.
