Ability to carry out a physical role, with demonstrated gardening / handyperson aptitude.
- **Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage and maintain grounds and gardens and complete grounds works as required within a school environment. Skills in the use of tools / technical equipment as relevant to the position.**- **Demonstrated technical knowledge, expertise and proficiency in minor repairs and maintenance to the interior and exterior of buildings within a school environment. Skills in the use of tools / technical equipment as relevant to the position.**- **The capacity to engage and liaise with contractors on the school site as required and manage minor projects and developments being mindful of OHS practices and protocols.**- **Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work independently to maintain the school buildings and grounds.**
Role:The core role of the Grounds / Maintenance Person may include but is not limited to:

  • Conduct grounds checks for hazards, repairs needed and work required and address issues accordingly, where possible
  • Awareness of and addressing, where feasible, any health and safety hazards
  • Minor repairs
- internal and external, as per repairs book and lists negotiated with Principal or Facilities Manager (any work requiring specialised expertise will be referred to a contractor, as required)

  • General external tidying and maintaining of gardens, pathways, steps and playgrounds including:
  • Sweeping/blowing
  • Weeding
  • Pruning
  • Planting
  • Mulching
  • Spraying
  • Cleaning up/tidying
  • Painting as required
  • Graffiti removal
  • Mowing and edging as required
  • Development projects within scope of works, including garden bed development and minor projects
  • Coordinate tradespersons working on site.
  • Assist OHS Coordinator with inductions for contractors.
  • Keep storage facilities clean and tidy.
  • Working through a schedule of regular tasks and maintenance audits.
  • General setting up and packing away after major events.
  • General handyperson duties as directed.
  • Maintain amenities / minor cleaning tasks where required to ensure OHS requirments are met
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and also with minimum supervision within a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist OHS Coordinator with inductions for contractors.
  • Keep storage facilities clean and tidy.
  • Assist with general setting up and packing away after major events.
  • Maintain amenities / minor cleaning tasks where required to ensure OHS requirments are met
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and also with minimum supervision within a team environment.
  • Report any dangers or safety hazards immediately ensuring areas are made safe when appropriate

The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the Facilities Manager and OHS Manager.

The time fraction is negotiable.

Attendance is generally not required in school holiday periods unless mutually agreed upon.
