The role


Collaborating with 14 member organisations of the Gippsland Integrated Water Management (IWM) Forum, the role will help deliver great environmental and liveability outcomes for our region.

The primary focus of the position is to foster effective collaboration between IWM Forum member organisations through engagement and clear communication, while working to achieve the strategic vision of the Forum.

The organisations include three water corporations, five local councils, two Traditional Owner corporations, the catchment management authority and state government agencies.

The role will also support Forum organisations in their work to achieve IWM outcomes, deliver projects and represent the Forum at relevant events, activities and meetings in an engaging and collaborative manner.


The position will provide crucial support to IWM organisations on IWM activities that contribute to achieving the 8 strategic outcomes endorsed by the Forum.

The IWM Coordinator will be involved in projects and policy development relating to all parts of the water cycle across urban and at times broader catchments, to achieve multiple benefits for environmental, social, Traditional Owner cultural, and economic values and needs.

This includes potable and wastewater, stormwater, groundwater and rivers, with a focus on appropriate and sustainable use of all sources of water to meet a range of needs, as well as improving water quality outcomes.


What you'll bring

  • Tertiary qualification in a field of engineering, natural resources management, or relevant science, or significant and relevant practical experience in a related discipline.
  • Proven experience and skills in driving and fostering collaboration, stakeholder engagement, communicating and negotiating preferably in the water or local government sectors.
  • High level project management skills.
  • Excellent planning, time management and priority setting skills.
  • Exceptional ability to set own day to day work objectives and to work with mínimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated initiative and strategic thinking.
