We are looking for an experienced Process Safety Specialist to support the site on process safety related matters.


Our client is a fast growing national, leading supplier of cylinder gases such as LPG, Industrial Gases, Hospitality Gases and Helium.

The Role:


We are seeking a
Process Safety Specialist to join our client' facility in East suburbs of Melbourne
. This role will report to the Process Safety Manager and will be working closely with the Site Manager and the Operations Team to support the site on process safety related matters.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Embody the company's Safety Vision "Think SAFE, Work SAFE, Live SAFE" and Safety Expectations within all facets of the site and role.
  • Ensure a safe workplace for all staff, visitors and customers reporting all risks / hazards / incidents / near misses and accidents.
  • Lead and foster process safety management.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the Major Hazard Facility risk controls.
  • Provide technical and systems support to safety and regulatory audits.
  • Understanding of the site MHF Safety Case including the role and responsibilities of all site's key stakeholders.
  • In conjunction with the Site Manager, ensure the Integrated Management System (IMS) is entrenched and reflected in the site process, activities, and training.
  • Ensure understanding of the Bowties and all potential Major Incidents (MI) on the site including the controls for the potential MI's.

Plan and monitor scheduled monthly routine activities which include Site Improvement Plans, Routine Area Audits and Inspections, Hazard Identifications, Bow Tie Audits, Bow Tie Audit - Process, Work Permit issuing, Guarding Audits, SOP Reviews etc.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

  • Must have a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software packages.
  • PC skills used in database management, document development and computerbased training theory assessments.
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Science, or related field.
  • 35 years' experience in a MHF safety process role.
  • Cert IV/Diploma in WHS desirable.
  • Process Safety experience is highly regarded.
  • Must have the ability to form functional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
