    Government agency seeks experienced Senior Communications Adviser to provide strategic Communications advice across a range of activities, projects and programs

    Senior Communications Advisor opportunity

    • Approx. $65-$70 per hour plus Super dependent on experience
    • Full-time, 6-month contract. Immediate start
    • Melbourne CBD /WFH Arrangement

    About the role

    Our client, a government agency, seeks an experienced Senior Communications Advisor to join them on a full-time, 6-month contract based in Melbourne CBD with an immediate start. As the Senior Communications Advisor, you will be responsible for managing the brand across a significant infrastructure program.

    Key duties

    Reporting directly into the Communications Manager, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

    • Providing strategic advice across a range of agency activities, projects and programs to ensure a coordinated approach to style and brand.
    • Leading the agency's brand across various platforms, encompassing both digital and physical collateral, as well as dynamic media.
    • Ensuring accessible print-ready artwork and digital outputs adhere to industry standards and best practices.
    • Crafting compelling content tailored specifically for diverse communication channels, always keeping the audience's needs and preferences in mind.
    • Mentoring and guiding a team comprising of a videographer and graphic designer to ensure their work results in cohesive and impactful visual communication that resonates with the intended audience.
    • Collaborating closely with communications managers to offer strategic advice to the Agency's executives, ministerial advisors, and internal teams.
    • Efficiently managing externally commissioned content projects, overseeing procurement processes, maintaining supplier relationships, and managing budgets effectively.

    Experience and Skills

    The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:

    • Ability to guide and develop written communications to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose.
    • Experience in preparing complex briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
    • Expertise in contemporary communication tools across all the Creative Cloud suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign & Acrobat including the preparation of electronic artwork for commercial print.
    • Proven negotiating and influencing skills to facilitate decision-making and reach agreements in a highly sensitive and complex environment.
    • Excellent strategic planning skills with the ability to prioritise effectively, set goals and high standards of performance.

    Qualifications

    • Tertiary Qualifications in Communications
    • Sound knowledge of and experience working within government organisations.
