The Associate Technical Officer provides support to the Creative Arts Disciplines primarily in the Television, Radio, Design and Interactive Technology programmes under the direction of the Coordinating Technical Officer.

The function of this role is to support classes, project work and student outcome events, as well as being responsible for the programming of on-air content for the university streamed broadcast radio station.


Who you are

  • You will have prior experience in a higher education or teaching environment or broadcast organisation. You will be able to provide support relating to Television and Radio technical support as well as having experience in the planning and coordination of events and productions, with good administrative skills and attention to detail.
  • You will possess effective client service skills, and be able to set appropriate goals, prioritise work, follow through on tasks, report progress, and achieve results.

What you'll do:


  • The role provides general technical support, advice and customer service to academic staff and students that utilise the facilities and require assistance from technical staff. You will be required to act as a point of contact for academic staff for technical service enquiries and requirements within the discipline.
  • This role provides collegial relationships and networks with internal and external partners to support UniSQ School of Creative Arts academics who will program events. You will liaise with partners and internal teams (e.g. Marketing) to facilitate student outcome events.
  • This role supports and fosters a culture of workplace health and safety awareness to ensure all staff, students and visitors remain compliant with university policies, procedures, and legislation. You may be required to coordinate and/or conduct training in the operation of relevant equipment.

What will help you succeed
The ideal person for this position will possess the following:

  • Diploma or higher-level qualification in a relevant Creative Arts discipline, or combination of relevant qualifications and experience.
  • An understanding of the arts industry or the higher education sector and universities in general, and a knowledge of the technical support and facilities that support the delivery of relevant academic programs.
  • A good knowledge of Television. Radio, Design and Interactive Technologies will be desirable.
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to problem solve efficiently, smartly, and imaginatively, taking all facets of the workplace into account.
  • An understanding of WH & S principles, regulations and risk assessments.
  • A willingness to travel to other campuses as required.
