    Principal Hydrogeologist

    The Role:

    We are seeking a talented Principal Hydrogeologist with local and international experience who wants to join a world-class team as they continue to grow into the Eastern Australian market. This could be a career defining role for someone looking to take the next step or a beneficial change of environment for an experienced professional who has an entrepreneurial bent and wants the scope to make their mark. The successful applicant could be based in either Brisbane or Newcastle and relocation is available for interested applicants who may wish to return to the area to take up this opportunity.

    As a Principal Hydrogeologist with SRK:

    You can expect to be providing specialised consulting services to our clients both in the office and in the field, locally and internationally. You will use your detailed technical knowledge and varied field experience to provide timely advice, recommendations, and project work to our clients, across a wide range of commodities and projects. Professionally, you will be expected to share your knowledge through your leadership and mentoring skills to grow the careers of more junior team members and to seek out the best and brightest to become part of your team.     Our successful candidate will have:

    &bull: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology or Engineering Geology (a master's degree or PhD would be well regarded).

    &bull: 12 or more years' experience in the mining, exploration and/or mining consulting industries, a significant amount of which will be within the Australasian market segment.

    &bull: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.

    &bull: The ability to effectively engage and manage client relationships as well as develop new clients and nurture future relationships through your professional abilities and team offering.

    &bull: Familiarity with ArcGIS, QGIS, other softwares &bull: The position requires that you have experience in site-based work including:
  • Groundwater resource evaluation.
  • Hydrogeological assessments for mine dewatering on site.
  • Permeability testing for open pit mine slope stability.
  • Geophysical surveys, site supervision and management of drilling contractors.
  • Computerised modelling and data analysis techniques.
  • Undertaking hydrogeological investigations.
