Deputy Secretary, Hospitality and Racing**-
Lead major reform to the legislative framework:

  • Establish innovative regulatory frameworks and public policy for racing and responsible gambling:

  • Ongoing Senior Executive Band 3 role (total remuneration package between $393,713-$441,918)

About the Role


The Enterprise, Investment and Trade (EIT) portfolio brings together NSW's key arts, culture, hospitality, entertainment and visitor experience groups alongside our leading economic development and investment attraction organisations.

We propel the delivery of investment, business, lifestyle, entertainment, and cultural opportunities.


Part of EIT's senior leadership team, the Deputy Secretary, Hospitality and Racing is responsible for leading the Division to administer the regulatory framework for the liquor, gaming, wagering, casino and registered clubs sectors in NSW.

This includes compliance and enforcement, licensing and education of highly regulated entities, and the development of innovative regulatory policy (for the racing, liquor, gaming, wagering, casino and registered clubs sectors) to achieve Government priorities.

This role leads the delivery of major reform to deliver upon government's priorities for streamlining liquor licensing, aligning the planning and liquor licensing systems and significant gaming reform in NSW.

The Deputy Secretary will navigate highly sensitive, contentious and political matters that impact the industry, economy and community. The coming year, in particular, will be one of significant reform.


About You


The Deputy Secretary will have an innate ability to balance the complex and competing interests of industry, community and government stakeholders and be able to demonstrate political acuity and sensitivity.

Critical in this role is an ability to respond to novel challenges with a high level of resilience and persistence, coupled with superior stakeholder engagement and collaboration capability.


Experience in the delivery of strategic activities and regulation, providing expert advice and a thorough knowledge of the machinery of government and relevant statutory requirements is essential.
