About the role


As a Safe City and Asset Protection Officer you will be part of the Safe City and Asset Protection team and will be responsible for providing advice and support to internal and external stakeholders in relation to security matters.

Your focus will be on security management and technical systems including access control, CCTV, security and fire safety.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate the delivery of projects and operational programs under the Safe City and Asset Protection Section to ensure the requirements of the relevant building security, fire safety and emergency regulations are met and ensuring that Council's compliance of policies and procedures relating to these services are achieved.
  • Provide support and advice to Council Departments on issues pertaining to building security, fire and emergency safety management.
  • Manage contractors and key stakeholders responsible for the delivery of security and fire safety maintenance, training and programs under the control of the Safe City and Asset Protection Section.
  • Assist in the coordination of security patrols and response to public safety and Council's assets.
  • Assist Safe City in administrative, projects and technical support as required.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • An excellent fit with our values of communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency, and leadership
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or knowledge and experience in one of more of the following. Public safety, security cameras, electronic security, fire and emergency planning, and security services.
  • Hold a Queensland Security Licences (Unarmed) and /or Queensland Security Advisor licence or ability to acquire within six months of commencement
  • Fire Safety Advisor qualification or ability to acquire within six months of commencement
  • Hold current Queensland "C" class licence.

This is a permanent position, Level 4 with a salary commencing at $82,260 plus superannuation of up to 12.25%.
