    Our client is a Not-for-Profit organisation who are currently seeking a Finance Manager to manage a team of Accountants and Bookkeepers within their local office and across a number of remote communities.

    This highly visible role is responsible for ensuring the strategic leadership and day to day management of various entities and divisions of the business. In addition, you will lead the corporate services arm and the finance team which will include performance management and departmental planning.

    You will take responsibility for the management of the organisation's bookkeeping resources which will include effective management of accounting systems and procedures ensuring that policies are complied with, and accounts, budgets, forecasting and reporting are delivered to meet operational needs.

    The Finance Manager will develop sound finance policies and procedures, manage audit requirements, ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and provide timely accurate financial reporting to the communities as well as the Board of Directors of the Council

    Responsibilities include:

    • Maintain the integrity of the accounts
    • Compliance management including regulatory and taxation
    • Monthly and quarterly reporting
    • Manage audit relationships
    • Budget preparation
    • Input to overall strategic direction
    • Recommend improvements for processes and systems
    • Lead and develop the team
    • Oversee payroll functions
    • Annual appraisals
    • Conduct performance reviews of staff
    • Promote a safe and vibrant environment in the workplace
    It will be imperative that the Finance Manager is prepared to take a pro-active 'hands-on' approach to the management of the finance department and corporate services group, The Finance Manager should manage funds to maximise return on investments whilst minimising risks.
    The ideal candidate will bring a background in the Not-for-Profit sector together with Commercial knowledge ideally within a multi-faceted organisation.

    Skills and qualifications:
    • An accounting qualification is essential, either CPA or CA
    • Experience and/or knowledge of Aboriginal culture and communities
    • Working rights in Australia
    • Current drivers' licence
    • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate and influence
    You will be willing to take regular and essential travel to the lands to manage teams based in the communities as required.
