About the role:

The Legal Support Officer will support the Spent Convictions Legal Unit within Legal Services Department in triaging and managing legal files relating to the scheme.

The Legal Support Officer may also be required to assist other areas within the Legal Services Department in providing paralegal support.

Your duties will include:

Manage files and support lawyers as part of the court process, including file management, correspondence with stakeholders and applicants as required.
Assist the Managing Principal Solicitor and Senior Solicitors as required in the work of the team.
Undertake research as requested by solicitors ahead of court hearings.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

Experience with file management and drafting correspondence.
Preferred is some experience in the legal field (particularly if currently or recently studying law or legal topics).

Requirements and relevant information:

One (1) x fulltime, fixed term position available until 30 June 202
This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo preemployment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
As a member of the Legal Services Department you will be located, on selection, at a specific office within a Division for a particular advertised opportunity. However, given occasional legal service demand issues you may be required at times to undertake varied work within the Department. This supports the Departments commitment to a flexible and deployable legal workforce and professional development opportunities in a range of legal domains.
