Australia's Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation,(ANSTO) is the home of Australia's most significant landmark and national infrastructure for research. Thousands of scientists from industry and academia benefit from gaining access to state-of-the-art instruments every year. The Bayside Group is working alongside ANSTO to bring onboard a WHS Advisor to their Hazmat and Occupational Hygiene team. Their primary role is to provide hands-on safety advice and monitoring services to a range of operational areas supporting ANSTO's commitment to provide and promote a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors, visitors and members of the public.


Duties include:

  • Supporting management and staff in achieving WHS compliance in respect of their work health and safety legislative obligations and providing WHS coaching and advice to senior management and line supervisors, staff and contractors;
  • Assist ANSTO in implementation of asbestos/hazardous material management policies and procedures;
  • Assist in planning and monitoring ongoing asbestos/hazardous material surveys and ANSTO remediation action plans conducted across all Campuses;
  • Evaluate contractor performance (occupational hygienists, asbestos assessors, asbestos removalists) to ensure adherence to WHS Regulation and codes of practice;
  • Administer and continuous improvement of ANSTO's hazard register to collect/maintain asbestos/hazardous material survey information.
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Australian Citizenship
  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS, Occupational Hygiene, or a related discipline;
  • Demonstrated experience in providing WHS advice and support based on legislation and best practice;
  • Relevant industry experience supported by asbestos and contaminated site management experience;
  • Successful completion of BOHS IP40
  • Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings course and/or asbestos assessor licence (desirable);
  • A Member of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH) and/or Australian Institute of Health and Safety Institute (AIHS) (desirable);
