Southern Cross Care Queensland are currently looking to appoint a Head of Pastoral Services, based at our Support Office, conveniently located in Upper Mt.

Gravatt.


In this rewarding role of the Head of Pastoral Services you will be responsible for developing and executing pastoral service strategies and programs to support the vision, mission and values of the organisation.

As a member of the People & Mission Team you will have an opportunity to provide operational and strategic advice, leadership, direction and service implementation to drive and support operational performance and effectiveness.

What are the responsibilities?
In this role as the Head of Pastoral Services you will lead the Pastoral Care team and ensure the development and delivery of a caring and nurturing program of care through:

  • Maintaining the Catholic Identity and Ethics across SCCQ with celebration of key liturgical events and occasions.
  • Promoting of the Catholic Health Australia (CHA) Code of Ethical Standards and ensuring that the Pastoral Care team understand how it is applied in key decision making.
  • Providing leadership to ensure the delivery of best practice pastoral services throughout SCCQ.
  • Developing and supporting a model of pastoral care in light of the Australian Aged Care Quality Standards and Meaningful Ageing Australia's National Guidelines for Spiritual Care in Aged Care.
  • Fostering multidisciplinary approach to enhance collaboration between pastoral and care services across the organisation.
  • Promoting a spirituality of healing and wholeness to support staff, residents and their families and clients.
  • Working collaboratively with the PriestsinResidence to support delivery of the pastoral and sacramental program.
  • Participation in the development and implementation of a strategic approach to volunteer recruitment and management.
  • Forming strategic partnerships with external organisations to increase potential volunteer pools.

What you will bring to the role?

  • You will hold a tertiary qualifications in pastoral services, mission integration, or similar relevant discipline with a post graduate qualification an advantage.
  • Significant experience in a senior leadership role within mission & pastoral services.
  • Demonstrated experience in organisational development and leading cultural change.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective negotiation and conflict management skills.

They saw a need to provide compassionate care and inclusive service to some of the most vulnerable, the ageing population, in the community.
