About the position:


Wollongong City Council has been successful in securing a 'Stronger Together' Local Councils Major Festival Grant from Multicultural NSW to deliver two festivals over two years.

The festivals aim to enhance social cohesion, promote community harmony and celebrate and embrace our regions vibrant cultural diversity, through the bringing together of communities from diverse cultural backgrounds to co-create workshops and festival programming.


Working closely with Council staff and community members, you will play a pivotal coordination role in the successful delivery of this project, from community engagement through to festival production and delivery.


This position is initially part-time, working 4 days per week (28 hours), increasing to full-time (35 hours) prior to each festival delivery in 2023, and following a similar work pattern in 2024.

This is a term contract up to December 2024.


As this position requires manual tasks, applicants should be suitably fit to undertake the duties as outlined in the job description.

This role may also require you to work on weekends and evenings as required.


What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • You will be a seasoned events professional with experience in planning, preparing and delivering largescale community and cultural events/ festivals.
  • You will have a passion for community events and festivals and skills in performance programming and curation.
  • You will have demonstrated highlevel communication and relationshipbuilding skills allowing you to liaise and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Your project planning and monitoring will be secondtonone to ensure all milestones are reached.
