We are looking for Derrickman positions in Perth, Western Australia for our operations.

Specific Responsiblities and Accountabilities

  • Assists in any operation being carried out by the drilling crew
  • Load and unload casing on racks during tripping operations and the running of casing
  • Responsible for maintaining the drilling fluid and the drilling system while drilling ahead, as directed
  • Maintain of drilling equipment as directed, including mud pumps, shakers, the mud system and the pipe handling system
  • Maintain the drilling mud properties as directed by the Mud Engineer/OCR and carry out such tests as may be required to monitor these mud properties
  • Perform work in the derrick as directed by the Driller
  • Maintain his/her areas of responsibility in a clean, tidy and safe condition
  • Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions in the mud system
  • Mix mud to the required specifications
  • Maintain log of mud properties as required by company policy or as directed by the Client and Mud Engineer
  • Maintain technical manuals relating to mud equipment
  • Maintain appropriate sections of Daily Drilling Report
  • Report on consumption of mud products at end of each tour in daily drilling report
  • Follow directions given by Mud Engineer/OCR
  • Assist in supervision and training of subordinates in HSEA Company Policy, Procedures and Practices
  • Supervise crew members during mud mixing operations
  • Assist subordinates to upgrade positions
  • Stress safety and safe working practices to subordinates and report unsafe practices or conditions to the Driller or Tourpusher
  • Train and study for personal advancement
  • Use safe operational practices when handling equipment and tools
  • Have thorough knowledge of rig emergency procedures and signals
  • Participate in Drilling Department safety drills and meetings

Technical Competencies

  • Physically capable of sustained manual labour
  • Must be capable of working skillfully and safely as a member of the drilling team
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining specialist equipment
  • Safely perform manual skills
  • Able to carry out the correct working procedures required to fulfil the drilling programme
