We are looking for Floorman positions in Perth, Western Australia for our operations.
The Floorman is an integral member of the rig floor team led by the Driller. This team physically performs all the standard drilling operations and is always involved in service company operations also.

In addition to the ability to safely perform manual skills in a highly skilled team environment, it is essential to be able to learn the various procedures which are required to carry out the Drilling Program.

These procedures include establishing the well, tripping drill strings, running casing strings, handling BOP stacks and risers and operating and maintaining the surface mud treatment equipment.


Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Assist in preparation to run the drill string
  • Assist in tubular tripping operations
  • Assist in preparation to run and cement casing
  • Assist in nippling up choke and kill lines
  • Prepare and operate pipe handling equipment as necessary for tripping, making connections, well testing and logging
  • Examine and maintain of drill floor equipment
  • Maintain a high standard of rig house keeping
  • Recognise the mud mixing system
  • Recognise the operation of the storage area and hopper system
  • Know signals and safe working procedures for operation of man riding and air hoists
  • Know lockout and tagging procedures for equipment maintenance
  • Know Permit To Work system
  • Participate in all safety drills and meetings and safety training programmes
  • Know well control procedures as detailed for Floormen
  • Carry out fire team duties as directed
  • Participate in fire drills
  • Assist in first aid and medevac procedures
  • Have a thorough knowledge of rig emergency signals and procedures
  • Have a thorough knowledge of hand signals and safe working procedures for equipment handling
  • Perform assigned duties in a safe efficient manner in accordance with Company Policy and good rig husbandry
  • Report any unsafe condition or practice at once to your Supervisor
  • Any further reasonable duties as directed by a Supervisor
  • Undertake all other work as requested by Management
  • From time to time there will be a requirement for you to work reasonable overtime in additional to the ordinary hours
  • Comply with all HSE policies and work procedures
  • Contribute to the development of and improvements in QA procedures
  • Actively work towards achieving/maintaining Training Matrix in accordance with organisational KPI's

Technical Competencies

  • Physically capable of sustained manual labour
  • Must be capable of working skillfully and safely as a member of the drilling team
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining specialist equipment
  • Safely perform manual skills
  • Able to carry out the correct working procedures required to fulfil the drilling programme
  • Must be able to implement the various procedures outlined in the Drilling Programme
  • Must be extremely observant to notice and report abnormalities in the well, the rig equipment and the rig environment and to anticipate and rectify potential safety hazards and report to supervisor
